City Parking Review 2011

I am writing to community groups in the City to offer to attend your community meeting and to answer questions on the subject on the council’s strategic city-wide parking review which was announced by the Cabinet Member for Environment last month. The review will take a year to complete, with an update given to the Cabinet Member after six months.

Licensing Team are running a consultation

The Licensing Team are running a consultation about the way applications for licenses to sell alcohol are considered by Brighton & Hove City Council.

As part of this they are considering extending the Cumulative Impact Area and the Special Stress Area and are looking at developing a matrix approach for considering applications.

Planning Applications aug-sept

Enclosed are a list of the planning applicatins mainly for alcohol etc.
of note are those for Rock N  roller - (220811-260811)
and the following are not on the enclosed forms or the council site at the moment
30 North  street (ex cafe felice)
and North st locations - chicken cottage(!) (ex barclays bank)
and the ex kumena newsagent store

Western Road Parking complaint

It would be nice to know why Brighton and Hove Council does:
 

  • not use CCTV to enforce parking on main roads and outside schools.  I understand that there may be a difference in enforcing 'instant' offences (such as zig zags) and 'five minute' offences (such as double yellow lines)?
  • not allow parking fines to be sent in the post if drivers drive away?

Brunswick town is again entering the britain in bloom national competition organised by south and south east in bloom. Our entry will be judged on 7th july 2011 and all the residents, businesses, organisations, resident associations and city clean and parks are working hard to achieve top marks.
