With the increase amount of vacant shops within the Central Brighton area, there is also an increase in the amount of fly posting and the boldness of it. Residents hope to change that with community action.

Across the entire Brunswick and Regency area there are numerous sites where strings of posters taped to the inside of the door or piled in a heap from previous open window flyposting attacks.

Despite numerous complaints to the council, responsibility is usually passed to the shop tenant. The council have attempted to smarten or prevent this with their new shop smarten scheme but the poster attacks continue. People have also been seen doing this in broad daylight with crowds of shoppers passing by.

People living in the area are now fighting back by taking photographs of the offenders and emailing them to the police, council and neighbourhood watch groups in an attempt to get this practice stopped.

One resident has even designed a device that will hopefully prevent open window flyposting.

For or against flyposting? Have you witnessed flyposting?
