Below is an e mail from Cllr Elgood concerning a Planning Application for the erection of telephone masts. Please read it and respond to Planning with your comments.
Bill Cowell
Dear colleague
I would be grateful if you would circulate this information as widely as possible, and ask residents from across the ward to comment on the application. If this goes ahead other masts, such as at Intergen House, could also be tripled in strength.
The council has received a planning application for three mobile phone mast antennas on the roof of the Providence Pub on Western Road. We are asking residents to join us in objecting to the application - we believe that it is significant in size, close to homes and above a building which has been used as a nursery.
Mobile phone masts maybe a necessary evil, but we also believe people have the right to live free from health fears over them. This is too close to local homes and a less intrusive site should be found. This proposal significantly upgrades the existing equipment there and because of its size is especially cause for concern.
Details of the application are:
BH2009/02543 Sussex House 130 Western Road Hove
Replacement of existing 5 metre-high roof top flagpole to accommodate 3 No. triband antennas and installation of additional roof top equipment cabinet.
