Brighton O
Just happened upon your site whilst googling......no mention of Brighton O planning application.....hmmmmmm!
Currently expected at Feb. 3 planning committee. Report online from Wednesdaym 27th January and expected to carry the same recommendation to refuse as was on the Report meant to go to Committee on 13th January.
The Brighton Sailing Club, The Brighton Explorers (kayaks)and adjacent arches businesses would be destroyed by the Brighton O which would "oversail" their frontages and force removal of boats from the beach.
Regrettably, only the interests of the proposed i360 were considered a reason for refusal, along with hours of operation in the Report for 13th January 2010. Hopefully arches leaseholders get better service from the report for February 3rd - even better, one would like the Brighton O application to be withdrawn and a new one raised with an alternative siting for it east of the Palace Pier where it could provide a link to Volks Railway and on to the Marina.
Proposal to control the display of estate agents’ boards.
Town & Country Planning (Control of advertisements) ( England ) Regulations 2007.
During the summer you [EBRA] wrote to the office of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government giving your support to the making of a direction to bring under planning control the display of estate agents’ sale and letting boards in certain conservation areas in the centre of the city.
The Council has been informed that a hearing is to be conducted into the making of this direction, having received an objection to the proposal from the Brighton and Hove Estate Agents’ Association.
The hearing will be held at the Town Hall, Norton Road , Hove on Wednesday 9th March at 10.00.
Should you wish to make further written representation, this should be made to Mr C Kearney at Communities and Local Government, Floor 1/A1, Eland House, Bressenden Place , London SW1E 5DU , no later than 8th February.
Members of the public may attend the hearing and, at the discretion of the Planning Inspector, express their views. If you are disabled or anyone you know who wants to attend the hearing is disabled, do contact me to ensure that proper arrangements have been made with regard parking space, access, or seating arrangements etc.
Full details of the council’s representation in support of the proposal together with maps defining the areas which are recommended for inclusion in the direction are available for inspection during normal office hours at the “City Direct” Information and Advice Centres in the Town Hall, Norton Road , Hove and at Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square , Brighton .
Yours sincerely

Amber Foods latest updates
From Matt Gest
Dear all,
Re: Amber Food Stores - 17 Western Road
I am writing to advise you that I have visited the store at 17 Western Road , Hove this afternoon and met with the operator.
Further to my investigations from the planning perspective, I am satisfied that there has not been a change in the use of the premises and I will therefore be closing my file in this matter.
Telephone Masts
Below is an e mail from Cllr Elgood concerning a Planning Application for the erection of telephone masts. Please read it and respond to Planning with your comments.
Bill Cowell
Dear colleague
I would be grateful if you would circulate this information as widely as possible, and ask residents from across the ward to comment on the application. If this goes ahead other masts, such as at Intergen House, could also be tripled in strength.
Brighton Primark Protest
We’d had enough so decided to blockade their 8am Saturday morning product delivery. We hope to raise the profile of these issues ahead of a planning application from Primark being decided by the council’s planning committee this Wednesday 25th November, which includes delivery issues.
Primark’s management have refused to enter into dialogue with residents or councillors.
meeting called to discuss a Gate for Farman Street
Many residents of Farman Street and Cross Street were also in attendance
Bill introduced the two council representatives Jonathan and Simon who dealt with the previous aborted request for a gate.
They told us that the previous gating order was very slow going and had received more objections than any other applications in the city. The Ramblers Association and Local Access Group have issues regarding gating orders.

Lion and Lobster result
The Lion and Lobster, in Sillwood Street, Brighton, has been sending people
to the pavement outside to smoke after 11pm since a ban was put on
late-night use of a roof terrace in the middle of the building last August.
But this week a Brighton and Hove City Council licensing panel overturned
the earlier decision in the wake of evidence that having smokers on the
street was causing a worse problem.
SuperDrug Parking Shame
Hello,
As part of the Brunswick & Regency (LAT) campaign for safer streets, we
would like to bring to your attention the following pictures taken from
one of our members.
They show the same vehicle, a "Superdrug Savers" (YA 54 UAL) lorry
parked so close to a traffic island in Western road that buses and other
vehicles could not pass on the correct side of the road. Other vehicles
had to go the wrong side of the central traffic aisle, on the wrong side
of the road, to get past the lorry causing a highly dangerous situation.
The pictures can be seen on our parking gallery at
http://tinyurl.com/md58q3 as you can see clearly show a bus and council vehicle
having to cross to the wrong side of the road to get past.
